Boxing

Know the game before you place your bet.
As with most all sportsbook wagering, the better you know the sport the better you’ll come out.  Bookmakers mainly rely on the boxing trade press to calculate the odds on a fight but unfortunately they don’t always get it right.  Learn as much as you can about the sport and you’ll be able to lay your money down with a little more confidence. One factor you must always take into account when betting on boxing is the judging panel.  Boxing is considered to be a very political sport and if it comes down to the judges to make the final decision, you can’t always be sure that the best fighter will win.

There are three main ways you can bet on boxing.
When betting on a boxing fight, you should need to provide the sportsbook with the following: which fighter you would like to bet on, the bet number and the amount of money you wish to bet.

Bet on the total- With this wager you are betting on the number of rounds the fight will go, meaning the fight has to go under or over the round or the rounds and a half of the next round. In other words: 3 ½ means the whole third and a half of the forth round. When betting on the total rounds that a fight will last, you must take the OVER or the UNDER.

Bet the money line- When betting on the money line, you are betting that the fighter will win straight up in order to win your bet. Odds for a fight are based on $1.00. A "minus" (-) proceeding the number indicates the boxer is the favorite. A "plus" (+) preceding the number indicates the boxer is an underdog.

Proposition wager – With a proposition wager you are choosing which fighter will win in what round. Odds will be given to each fighter winning in each round. The odds for this type of wager will be different for each round.

Basic rules of boxing.

  • Each round is three minutes long: a half-round is defined as 90 seconds.
  • Boxing matches are official for wagering purposes after the bell has sounded to start first round.
  • Boxing matches do not have to go full regulation play for wagers to be action.
  • A wager placed on a boxing round is considered a full round only when the bell sounds to end that round.
  • Upon the stopping of a fight in mid-round, the exact time of that round will be used for round propositional betting.
  • Whenever a draw line is offered in boxing and the fight ends in a draw, then bets on either fighter will be graded as losers.
  • A wager on a fighter to win by "KO" wins if the selected fighter wins by KO, TKO, or DQ.
  • All matches must start within 7 days of originally scheduled time for wagers to have action.
