A game of 7-Card Stud is played like this:

1.   Each player puts in their ante before the hand is dealt. The table at which you play determines the amount of the ante.

2.   Two cards are dealt face down and one card face up to each player (3 total cards in each hand). The face up card is known as the 'door card' or 'Third Street'.

3.   Now everyone gets a turn to bet. In some poker rooms, the player with the lowest card showing bets first. This lowest card showing is sometimes called the 'door card' and when you do this you 'bring in bet'.

4.   Next card is dealt face up to each player. This second face up card is referred to as 'Fourth Street'.

5.   There is another turn of betting.

6.   The 'Fifth Street' card is then dealt face up to each player.

7.   Another turn of betting takes place with the betting minimums/maximums usually doubled during this turn.

8.   The 'Sixth Street'' card is dealt face up to each player. .

9.   Then another turn of betting for the players left in the game, at the higher values raised after the 'Fifth Street'.

10.  'River Card' or 'Seventh Street' as the last card is called, is dealt face down to each player.

11.  The final turn of betting takes place for the players left in the game.

Once the betting is finished, the hands are called and each player turns over their face down cards. The player with the highest 5 card hand wins the pot. While you'll have 7 cards, you will only use your "best" 5 cards to make the highest hand you can. The two remaining cards don't count towards your final hand.
